Bonus Friday Featured Track

Another song that has been on my brain quite a bit this week:

- “Brave Face,” Delta Goodrem, from her new album “Delta.”

In Tuesdays’s New Releases, I told you, lovely readers, that I would have a review today of Aussie singer/songwriter/pianist Delta Goodrem’s U.S. debut album.

Well, we ran into what I like to refer to as one of the “expect the unexpected” pitfalls of journalism: The review was held for space reasons. When I say it was held, I mean it wasn’t included in The Oklahoman’s Weekend Look section this week because of space issues. So, it’s a newspaper issue; to my knowledge, they still have not found the end of the apparently endless expanse of the Internet.

Since I like to sync my reviews so that they run in the paper, on NewsOK and here on the blog on the same day, we’ll hold off on the “Delta” review for now. Keep your eyes open for it; it will probably run next Friday.

But I like to give my loyal BAM’s Blog readers a little something extra, and I did tell you guys Tuesday I would have some news this week on the CD. So, I’m giving you a bit of preview by telling you about “Brave Face,” which is far and away my favorite track on “Delta.”

The song, which Goodrem co-wrote with Andrew Frampton, is a terrific uptempo piano ballad about running away with your lover from the cares of the world, if only for a time.

The track has some interesting synthy flourishes, but still manages to sound lovely and lyrical. Goodrem’s clear, high voice really shines against all those sparkling strings and drums.

I’ve already added “Brave Face” to my iPod. I’ve listened to it at least a dozen times this week, and I’m not even close to tiring of it.
