Jonas Brothers on other boy bands
As Jonas Brothers Day winds down here at BAM’s Blog, I hope that fans of the singing siblings have enjoyed reading more about the band, which is probably wrapping up their Oklahoma City show by now.
If you’re not a fan or a close relative or friend of one, well, I hope you have enjoyed some of the alternative content I’ve tried to include today.
For my last Jonas-related entry before I post the review by The Oklahoman‘s Heather Warlick and her daughter, Amber Gillmore, I’ll share the Jonas Brothers’ thoughts on a couple of former boy bands. Again, these comments are taken from a recent conference call with the guys that I took part in.
Since they are a trio of siblings who play their own instruments and sing, the Jonases often draw comparisons to Hanson. I asked them if the 1990s boy band from Oklahoma is one of their musical influences.
Joe Jonas: “It’s funny … we really start to wonder like where they come from with the Hanson thing and I think it’s only because we’re brothers. I think otherwise, our music is pretty different. I think we have a different style of music.
“And some of our influences are Elvis Costello, Prince, Johnny Cash, The Zutons, some Band of Horses, some bands that are just like we just really find musically amazing.”
Another reporter asked what the Jonas Brothers thought about the recent reunion of my favorite boy band of my tween/teen years, New Kids on the Block.
Nick Jonas: “I think it’s pretty cool that they’re doing it again. We played a show with them actually in New York at the Z100 Zootopia concert. Unfortunately, we had a quick out after our show, but our band actually stayed and watched their set and said that it was incredible.
“So, I think it’s pretty awesome and I think for us, we’re different because we’re brothers and we might not ever break up, but I think we’d love to continue to tour for many years to come.”
Keep an eye for the review of the show, which I will post a link to as soon as it becomes available. As always, thanks for reading BAM’s Blog!
