“Idol” finals: David vs. David
What seemed inevitable for weeks became official tonight: Tulsa’s David Cook and teen-dream David Archuleta are the last two contestants standing on the seventh season of “American Idol.”
Syesha Mercado, 21, of Sarasota, Fla., was voted off the hit reality TV show tonight. More than 56 million votes were cast, according to “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest.
Cook, 25, who grew up in Blue Springs, Mo., and has lived and performed in the Tulsa area the last few years, will go head-to-head with Archuleta, 17, of Murray, Utah, in next week’s finale.
The contestants performed three songs on Tuesday’s show – one picked by a judge, one picked by the performer and one picked by the reality show’s producers. Cook performed Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” Switchfoot’s “Dare You To Move,” and Aerosmith’s “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
