David Cook returns to Kansas City
With the seventh season competition drawing to a close, the reality TV juggernaut known as “American Idol” today sent its three finalists back to their hometowns.
Tulsa rocker David Cook, who grew up in Blue Springs, Mo., returned to the Kansas City area and was greeted by crowds of screaming hometown fans, played a few songs and generally seemed to have a good time, according to news reports. He even got to throw out the first pitch at today’s Kansas City Royals-Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball game.

Cook, 25, relocated to Tulsa a couple of years ago to join the popular band Midwest Kings. His experience playing in clubs in Tulsa and the surrounding region has clearly helped him find success on “Idol.”
Don’t worry, Oklahoma “Idol” fans, you’ll get your chance to see Cook – along with the other top 10 contestants from Season Seven - live and in person in a few months.
According to www.americanidol.com, the “American Idols Live! Tour 2008″ will make a stop at Oklahoma City’s Ford Center on Aug. 28. Tickets for the nationwide tour go on sale at 10 a.m. local time May 17.
