Carrie’s Opry induction to be televised live
Checotah product Carrie Underwood will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry at 7 p.m. Saturday, and the Great American Country network will carry the event live on its “Opry Live program.”
Saturday’s episode of “Opry Live” also will feature Dierks Bentley, another of the Opry’s young members, according to a news release.
To celebrate Underwood’s induction, GAC also will show ”Road to the Opry: Carrie Underwood” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Underwood will sit down for an exclusive interview about her “life, career and amazing journey” on the eve of becoming the newest member of the venerable country music institution, according to the release.
The half-hour special also will include interviews with Underwood’s mother, Carole, and Opry members Vince Gill, a fellow Oklahoma native; Randy Travis, who extended the March 15 invitation to Underwood to join the Opry; and Little Jimmy Dickens.
