My take: The new Warren Theatre

As I noted in my “Iron Man” review,  my husband and sons took me to the new Warren Theatre in Moore this weekend for an early Mother’s Day outing.

We were really impressed with the theater: It has an old-fashioned grandeur with all the modern-day amenities. Watching the actioner in one of the grand auditoriums, we were treated to unbelievably clear (but not overbearingly loud) sound and crystalline digital picture on a humongous screen. There was literally no bad seat in the huge auditorium – and our showing of “Iron Man” was sold out.

The auditorium boasts amazingly cushy and roomy rocking seats and plenty of leg room. It was one of the most comfortably public movie-viewing environments I’ve ever experienced.

The auditoriums have cry rooms at the back with several seats and two-way glass so that parents with fussy children can still enjoy the movie without disturbing everyone else. I almost wished Gabe the Babe would fuss so that my husband could take him into the cry room, but our 17-month-old just fell asleep when he got tired.

The theater also includes many extra amenities that add up to a sense of luxury, including white-gloved ushers that open the front doors for you, help you find seats in the theater and offer mints on the way out of the auditorium. The bathrooms are spacious (with lots of stalls, ladies) and the waiting area has plush chairs and a fireplace.

The sense of luxury also comes with the decor, from that grand lighted marquee out front to the colorful light scones in the theater to the ruby red curtain that rises at the start of the movie. Outside the theater, there’s an enclosed booth where you can buy tickets or pick up the ones you’ve pre-ordered online out of the wind and weather.

We didn’t take advantage of the Warren’s in-house diner, and since we had the boys with us, we couldn’t go up to the balcony, where you can pay a higher ticket price and have food and adult beverages served to you.

But we definitely plan to go back and check out another of the summer’s big releases at the Warren.

OK, get this, the theater has actual REAL melted butter you can get on your popcorn. Talk about fancy-schmancy! It costs you 50 cents extra, but dang! Good stuff!!

Good, because I’m pretty sure the fake stuff should NEVER have been ingested by people.
