Riley gets to romance Mrs. Michael Douglas
Justin Bartha, the witty Riley Poole from the “National Treasure” movies, will get to romance Catherine Zeta-Jones in an upcoming romantic comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie, titled “The Rebound,” will focus on a 25-year-old man (Bartha) who begins an unlikely relationship with an older woman (Mrs. Michael Douglas), a single mother who is his neighbor.
Filming will start this month in New York.
Bart Freundlich will helm the rom-com. Bartha had a small role in the director’s 2005 “relationship dramedy” “Trust the Man.”
Bartha was one of the best parts of “National Treasure,” effortlessly snatching scenes as the nerd-ilicious computer geek and wisecracking sidekick to Nicolas Cage’s treasure hunter. (I haven’t seen the sequel, but I thought “NT” was a fun, good-natured romp with a lot of historical interest.) He definitely deserves great things, and I think most guys would agree that romancing Catherine Zeta-Jones in any capacity certainly qualifies.
