Paseo looks promising

This month’s Paseo Gallery Walk looks like it might be one of the most interesting ever, with great shows planned at several of the galleries.

Karen Orr, one of my favorite Paseo painters, will open her show “Spring Fling” at In Your Eye Studio and Gallery. The show will explore the beauty of nature in all its multi-hued glory. The show will include several vibrant new watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings.

Friday’s opening reception also will feature winemaker and viticulture professor Andrew Snyder and Sand Hill Vineyards Manager Katy Lee pouring wines from the Calumet winery. White Zinfandel, Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese will be available to taste and buy.

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s current exhibit “Brett Weston: Out of the Shadow” is a must-see. If you can’t get enough of Weston’s incredibly evocative black and white photos, JRB Art at the Elms will open its show “Photographs by Master Photographer Brett Weston” this weekend.

The gallery also will have a show titled “Pentimento, Mixed Media Works by Paul Medina” this month.

Up-and-coming artist Dakota Wolf, 20, will have his third show at Adelante! Gallery, where his mom Cynthia is the co-owner. Titled “Branching Out,” the show will feature new ceramics, including functional and decorative vessels with landscapes and geometric designs carved in them. He also will display some of his acrylic paintings and pastel landscapes.

In the Paseo Art Space, the Oklahoma Watercolor Association is scheduled to open its juried member exhibit Friday night, too.

Hopefully, the weather at this month’s gallery walk will be better than the frigid, windy walk in March. Even if it isn’t, there’s sure to be something interesting to see.
