Amateur comedians from the University of Oklahoma competed Saturday for a chance to prove they are among the funniest college students in the nation.
OU hosted one of 32 campus contests in RooftopComedy’s first National College Comedy Competition. RooftopComedy (www.rooftopcomedy.com) is an Internet comedy site.
The eight winners at Saturday’s contest make up OU’s Comedy Team, which will compete in a regional semifinal March 31 against the University of Arkansas, according to a news release.
The winners of the 16 semifinal competitions will move on to the online voting contest, in which voters from around the world will be invited to vote for the best four comics in the stand-up and short film categories.
Then, the winners will compete in a live Web cast on www.rooftopcomedy.com/college on May 30-31 from Aspen, Colo. Viewers will vote online to determine who will recognized as the Country’s Funniest College Students.
