Would you ever consider hushing a president? You might if you were a king. The King of Spain, Juan Carlos, had enough during the Ibero-American summit. I suppose it was all he could take as Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, referred to Spain’s former Prime Minister, Jose Maria Aznar, as a “fascist”. Aznar is conservative, close to President Bush and backed the U.S. in the Iraqi war.
Chavez seems to be building a reputation. He called President Bush “the devil” at the United Nations last year. So as Chavez is repeatedly calling Aznar a fascist the Spanish King’s steam is building. Spain’s socialist prime minister starts giving a nice speech about respecting others, but the King cuts right to the chase and angrily says to Chavez, “Why don’t you shut up?” Which quieted Chavez for a little while. I have a sneaking suspicion if a king hushed me, I probably would too.
