Interesting stat… 41% of people worldwide lack access to a toilet or an outhouse! What?! What on earth do they do instead? Well actually, that’s probably the answer. They just do what they need to do on the earth!

Bathroomless
I always worry when coming home from vacation that everything will be intact, but I don’t ever think… “I wonder if my house is still there?” That’s exactly what happened to a Russian woman who’s home was torn down mistakenly by construction workers. That’s a heck of a mistake!
She said there was absolutely nothing left. The company said they tore down the wrong building… really?! She claims the company offered a little money, but only about enough to rent an apartment. She’s taking them to court. If I were to offer up my opinion I would have to say, she’ll win.

We all know Jessica Simpson was blamed for distracting boyfriend Tony Romo during his Dallas Cowboys game in December. Reports say Romo played his worst game of the season and the Cowboys lost. So when the Cowboys played again last Sunday Simpson stayed away. Her publicist said she was working. The New York Post decided the best thing to do during the game against the New York Giants would be to plant a ‘faux’ Jessica Simpson. Maybe the plan worked… the Cowboys lost 21-17.
Yep, that’s what I said… when siblings marry. Can I get an ‘eww gross’ anyone? This really happened… not to imply my other blogs didn’t! Twins in London (not Arkansas) who were separated at birth and adopted by different parents found each other later and married! Just to make sure this is clear, they had NO idea they were brother and sister until after the wedding. Fortunately the too close for comfort couple were given an annulment. This has Jerry Springer written all over it. Unfortunately the ex-couple haven’t come forward to tell their story, can’t say I blame them. I’m thinking when they met they had an instant connection… an “I feel like I’ve met you somewhere, possibly in my mother’s womb” sort of connection.
A new book “Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography,” devotes it’s pages to Mr. Hollywood himself, Tom Cruise. The author is Andrew Morton who has written books on Princess Diana, Monica Lewinsky and Madonna. I guess it’s time he wrote about a man! Tom’s professional and love life aren’t the only focus of the controversial new book, his religion – Scientology – also plays a big role. Morton claims Cruise is second in command of the ‘religion’ or as he writes, ‘cult’. Now the Church of Scientology and Cruise are considering a $100 million lawsuit, but Morton isn’t backing down. I hope Morton has a big savings account! I think it’s amazing this even matters. Why do I take the time?!

No Smoking!
You can’t smoke in Portugal anymore, well at least not in many public areas. A new law put in place beginning this year by Antonio Nunez, an official for the food standards agency, prohibits smoking in areas such as cafes, restaurants and bars. Apparently Nunez forgot to check what ‘public areas’ were off limits. He was caught on camera smoking at a New Year’s party in a casino! He says he didn’t know casinos were on the banned list. Whoops! :O

Living in IKEA
A home away from home… you might think I’m talking about a nice hotel, but nope, I’m referring to the mega furniture store IKEA. Comedian and filmmaker Mark Malkoff is calling a suburban New Jersey IKEA home for a week. His New York City apartment is being fumigated for cockroaches. I’ve heard of all kinds of unique living situations from renting out a couch to making a single bedroom into 2 by separating the room with a sheet hanging in the middle. This almost takes the cake though (of course there have been folks who’ve lived in Wal-Mart). Oh what people will do for publicity! Interestingly his wife chose not to make the store home and is staying with relatives in upstate New York. Just have to say, I don’t blame her. Good luck Mark and IKEA!
A 10 year old’s idea for getting out of school? Glue his hand to the bed of course! A 10 year old boy from Mexico decided pasting his hand to his bed’s metal headboard was the best way to get out of going back to school after Christmas break. But perhaps it wasn’t such a great idea after emergency workers tried for 2 hours to free his stuck hand. Unfortunately the boy’s wish didn’t come true and he was back in school a few hours later.
Now I’ve heard everything. Disney says ‘No kids allowed’ at a restaurant in Florida. What?! From what I understand Disney was created for children. Granted this is a fancy restaurant we’re talking about, but then my question is why have a Disney restaurant that’s so upscale kids aren’t welcomed? Why associate the restaurant with Disney? From now on any child under 10 will not be allowed into Victoria & Albert’s. Sorry kiddos. If mom and dad take you to Disney World, but want to go to a place where the dress code is strictly enforced and eat a meal for $125 or more, then count yourself out!
Who says television is bad for you? Recently a young boy’s life was saved because of a television program he saw! 11-year-old Max Zilvitis found out on a Discovery Channel show how to survive an avalanche by creating air pockets. Max unfortunately had to use the technique he learned from the show when he was buried by an avalanche at a ski resort in Utah. The massive snowslide killed another person. If Max hadn’t created the air pockets, he could’ve died too. Thank God for TV!!!
