I agree. I think a person's walk represents how he/she is feeling. The problem is, I believe, most people don't think that way. People tend to get their first impression from the way a person 'walks'. Many, including me -- I have been guilty of this, think that person is the way he/she walks. Obviously the times I've taken the chance to get to know the person, I realized I assumed certain characteristics.

I think that a walk can tell you a lot about a person- at least for the moment. An actor, in character, will walk differently than when out of character, in many cases. I think its not much different in reality- most people are playing a role, and one's walk is merely one indicator of the role that person happens to be playing at the time. The person shuffling down the sidewalk looking at the ground might appear to be insecure or angry. But, perhaps that person just found out that a loved one has a terminal illness, and most of the time they are confident, happy, and carefree? The walk indicates the circumstances rather than the character beneath. The more I think about it, I believe that visible insecurity, whether displayed in a walk or some other manner, is typically genuine, while visible confidence is frequently artificial. To some degree, we know what we are projecting and also what is expected. But, maybe the walk is subtle enough to be accurate....
